Who may apply? Commonwealth citizens between the ages of 17 and 30. The application must be lodged outside of the UK.

How long may I stay in the UK? A working holiday visa will normally be issued for two years. If you are looking to stay on longer in the UK you may apply for a six month visitor / tourist visa one month before the working holidaymaker visa expires.

Does it allow me to work? The Working Holiday Maker scheme no longer places any restrictions on the type of work that you undertake but you are expected to take a holiday at some point during your stay. After 12 months in the UK, if you meet certain criteria, you can apply to switch status to take up work permit employment.

You must obtain a Working Holiday visa outside of the UK, you cannot apply for it once you have arrived in the country. Your nearest British consulate or Embassy will be able to provide further details.
